Stuart Feurstein knew at a young age that he was interested in the medical field and was good at working with his hands. When he was in high school and college, he spent a lot of time in the office of his dentist, who was also a friend of the family.
“I didn’t know much about dentistry, but I watched as he put his patients at ease with his kind manner,” Dr. Feurstein says. “The work he did really changed people’s lives and inspired me to want to do the same.”
After graduation from Columbia University, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering, Dr. Feurstein attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1985. He completed a residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and later worked in his hometown, Port Chester, New York, for the dentist who inspired him to follow in his footsteps.
“I worked in his office after completing dental school, my residency program and after working in another practice,” Dr. Feurstein says. “It was almost like a residency program in itself, learning techniques and picking up tips that can only come from years of experience.”
When not working, Dr Feurstein enjoys spending time with his wife Claudine and their four children. He also enjoys historical novels, model building, working on his model trains and rooting for the Yankees.
In addition to Dr. Feurstein, his staff includes two dental hygienists, a dental assistant, an office manager and a receptionist. All of the staff has worked together for a long time; They are knowledgeable and skilled at answering patients’ questions and helping make their visits to our office pleasurable.
Elaine Rubin, our office manager has been working for Dr. Feurstein since 1992 when Dr. Feurstein first opened his practice. During that time, she has seen the practice develop year by year. She feels it is important to have a warm and welcoming atmosphere when patients come in for their appointments. Elaine is the person to talk to about most things including financial arrangements, insurance coverage, appointments and treatment plans.
Over the course of her employment with Dr. Feurstein, Elaine has seen many improvements in the dental profession. Laser dentistry, caries (cavity) detection equipment, digital x-rays, air abrasion, electronic claim submission are some of these advances. Dr. Feurstein always keeps up with the latest technologies to provide our patients with the most current dental treatments available.
